How do we modify add photo and so on to our profiles...I see some have added photo to theirs

I'm trying to add a pic to my profile... seems the max size is 300 x 300, so I need to resize

there is a link added in the menu to the left. Just added it about 3 or 4 minutes ago after reading truck's post. 
 
Once you upload a photo to your profile, it will appear in all of your posts (unless you opt out, but then if you opt out, why upload a photo at all, I guess?)
